Well, I haven’t been in the scene yet (because of fucking work.) But I assume the striped socks in conventions had a rival now in the real world:

freakin.bowed.headbands.

Blame the Gossip Girl trend, its now sweeping the country on whatever fashionable Blair Waldrof wears! (Such as fashionistas before watch out for Carrie’s look during Sex in the City? something like that) I can sit down and have my dairy queen in gateway cubao and I can count 10 people wearing it in similar styles within 30 minutes. Sometimes, it have to match the outfit. Such as when I saw a walrus-looking kikay attempted to do so in BRIGHT GOLD. Pink is ok, but gold?? omg..

Maybe they are being worn by convention people now, who knows…? I dont know. I havent been in the scene yet XD

My dad told me about the WCG event being shown in the news, and told me about some “kill bill and naruto characters” (Generally, Naruto is the new Dragonball when it comes to a non-otakus generalization of anime) They were interviewed about their outfits.

I’m like, “This is my worst nightmare. I will scream in terror if I’m featured in live TV and in costume to that…” I think I have my 5 minute spot in some con ages ago…I was fortunate THEY were not watching…but my friends in school (at that time) saw me x_x

Dad’s reaction is that of a snarl and some incomprhensible sarcasm. I’m like “I’m not the only adult into that…heck, I hardly do it anymore…(well later on)”

Being a crossplayer myself, I understand some consider it art while others have their own perverted agendas. My own reason for being one is really…I have no idea. It’s not being a chameleon, were being to able to disguise your own gender, people will consider you a pro-cosplayer. Or fan service. It’s just I can relate to the guys I crossplay, and I feel better when I go drag. Probably another reason are that some anime female characters are a little to revealing for my taste and it goes against my strong feministic views XP

Or maybe like the drag queen movie “To Wong Foo”, where Wesley’s character said “If a man have too much fashion sense for one gender, then he is *snaps fingers* a drag queen.

Pertaining to my “surprised” post entry, I finally got news on Luna’s reply:

Hello there. Ooh, Kyou Kara Maoh. I’m looking forward to it. But unfortunately, we already have a Gwendal and a Gunter. It was supposed to be and but they weren’t available last Toycon. I’m not sure if they could go to L.O con though. If not, then we’ll be happy to join you guys. When is L.O con anyway? Even I am not sure if I could go because I’d be leaving the country for a few weeks by the end of July or early August. If you ever do the KKM cosplay, then don’t forget to post some pictures. I’d love to see it because I like that series too.

Every time I post something optimistic on “…nobody seems going to crossplay him, so I will” this happens. Maybe I should stop posting my plans in the open (LJ, multiply…this blog is lesser known) because I swear, I jinx it that way x_x There is this Cain Knightlord-crossplay issue and I was also up against a legend, but that is another story (and was resolved—as far as my luck goes).

Actually, knowing those great gals I know they will complete the team somewhat…but not in this…way (I cant think of a better word)

Anyway, its Neijin! If we happen to be in an event together in same cross, I will be like a turd or like Naruto and his poorly copied clone in the pilot episode of the series. Not that I’m bad, let’s say my body is not in its top form anymore, I haven’t been in the scene for ages. I don’t want to be compared. This will be the second time I will crossplay (first is Irvine Kinneas from FF a playboy. Playboy types are not my…type, but sometimes its just, won’t hurt trying for kicks. I mean most of them are pretty boys and misogynists in nature ._. and I pretty much go only with the chararacters that strikes close to home.

Well this proved that I’m living under a rock for so long, when my friend is tipping me off about an “almost complete” male harem of KKM in toycon and that it might be nice if I/us join them if theyre going to LO..and yeah, knows only one of them with the aka Luna. There is the one and only Luna that I know of, the one who not only carries EGL style well, she lives the lifestyle and the idea swam in my head for a couple of weeks that it might be her. My friend is oblivious of who she is, and I’m too under the weather to even check (like weblogs and dA…which I did only now) and when she told me of the progress that this Luna have a pic of her cosplay in dA, I connected the dots, I decided to check and my assumptions happen to be true.

(But still, I’m surprised that my friend haven’t heard of her…o.O)

Anyway this left me scratching my head for the moment, I’m not really close to them, they’re wickedly good at what they do and the chances of being with their team is nil. I didn’t know its their team that was in toycon, if I knew its them, I would’nt have my friend ask about it. This is like asking Madonna performing for a local charity (but who knows, Madonna might/have or did perform for charity…but yeah, just describing) so its just, whatever for now. I will still stick being Gwen regardless of whatever the outcome is, and my friend will be gunther and that counts.

Although it wont hurt, but I tried posting a bit in the local forums looking for KKM cosplayers. It will be cool for the brothers to be complete, damn it. I lost almost 10 lbs so I can get my misantrophic antisocial butt into drag king gear again.

Yes, one of my reasons of being lazy to cosplay is events have the tendecy to fall on saturdays. So when I was adding Gwendal von Voltaire of Kyou Kara Maou for my 2009 future crossplay list while visiting the costume maker Mang Poly, I also get to ask my friends about the noted events for 2008. One of this is LO, an annual convention (for one, its a YAOI con. despite the dingy locations, slightly overpriced tickets and the sparse food, I do go because YAOI.) I joked I can push to crossplay Gwendal if it falls on a Sunday and it did x_x

So I will be crossplaying Gwendal von Voltaire for LO (stands for Lights Out). Pushing my Sweeney Todd cosplay close along with the Cain Knightlord one in a farther deadline (budget screams, Im no longer eating lunch outside because of it). Damn, I wish Mang Poly will also give me a discount for this costume, although he gave me a nice cut from the Sweeney one…still! I wish I have my mother with me XD she is good in cutting costs. Kura will be my Gunther (such an OOC pairing, but I think that’s the point and its a yaoi con = yaoi pair) I heard of some dudettes who did Conrad, Wolfram and Yuri in Toycon. Well I hope they will be there, so we will all rock.

No one have really crossplayed Gwendal here as far as I know. But more on that on my future projects. will edit. nao. hehe.

If one remembers my previous post, it suddenly turned my photo manipulating gear in motion Mock articles here I come! I haven’t done it for awhile xD Damn it, just when the happy days at work have just died I have the urge to do manipulations (our bosses are away for almost a month, but they’re coming back this sunday -_-)

I got home with my mom and bro holding the issue of today’s inquirer of ‘Cosplay’ Queen - Alodia Gosiengfiao because if anything cosplay appears, they know I will be engaged to read it…which most of the time, not. I always read the news ahead online…considering I don’t have much work in the office I go check their deviant art for cosplay news and pics (for inspiration). This does not mean I’m a fan girl

Also yeah, last week it’s Tricia Gosingtian was also featured on the same section regarding her talent with photography, garnering her great attention in Flickr. Who else is next? I’m thinking their next best bud Crissey o_O I won’t be surprised if that happens though. Pam Pastor…consecutively devoting pages for them and cosplay (cosplay = good. The hobby is so misunderstood anyway) , sometimes I wonder…is it a coincidence? Ok, I refuse to think too much about that, I get burned with conspiracy thoughts >_>

What I would want Pam Pastor to feature if she will do another cosplay-related article is about a sub-genre of cosplay: crossplay. But there will be a long list to follow such as mecha cosplay, mascot cosplay…but the I vote for crossplay. Just look at meh blog title and description.

If anything, I will vote for Hester (aka. Ulirat) to be featured, she have been around longer than I am (and more active) she is really resourceful, thus knowing a good thing or two about crossplaying.
